THE HOʻOPONOPONO PLASTIC PROGRAM
Doing the best we can to reduce plastic waste with Plastic Paradise Kauaʻi.

Hoʻomalu Ke Kai currently facilitates the washing and processing of plastic collected from beach and coastline cleanups. This program is also working on diverting some local business's production plastic from unsustainable options like the landfill, to a more sustainable, on-island solution for upcycling the plastic. Plastic Paradise Kauaʻi, takes on the role of collecting cleaned and processed types #1 PETE, #2 HDPE, #4 LDPE, and #5 PP plastic, shredding it, and turning into more long-term items like building materials, picnic tables and park benches, flower pots, surf accessories like fins and bodyboard leash plugs, and more as further injection molds continue to be developed.
