On April 29, 2021, Hoʻomalu Ke Kai was formed with a deeper vision in mind: to create a pathway toward coral restoration here on Kauaʻi.
What began as a shared goal to establish what is now the Kauaʻi Coral Restoration Nursery grew into something more, a community-driven effort to protect the ocean from mauka to makai.
Before HKK was officially established, this work started with a few people coming together around that vision, building momentum through action, and finding ways to show up for the ocean however we could. From those early days, Hoʻomalu Ke Kai was created as the vessel to carry that mission forward.
