About the event
🌊 Join us this weekend for Ho'omalu Ke Kai's Community Ocean Cleanup at Ahukini! 🌊
Grab your dive gear and tabis because we're diving into action this Saturday, February 24th, starting at 9 am. Our underwater crew will be hard at work clearing marine debris in Ahukini landing, while another team will be tackling the rocky shoreline behind the airport. See social media post for map of locations.
This collaborative cleanup is made possible by dedicated volunteers and committed organizations such as Kaua'i Ocean Awareness, 'Opala Art, Kupa'a Kaua'i Office of Economic Development Board, Kaua'i Solid Waste and Recycling Division, Oceania Educators, and DAR Kaua'i.
We welcome both scuba certified volunteers and free divers! Scuba certified volunteers, please remember to bring your own gear and tanks, while free divers can join in with their equipment. If you are certified and need to rent gear or tanks, be sure to check out our dive partner Seaport Divers on the South Side and mention you're joining the Ho'oomalu Ke Kai effort to clean up Ahukini this Saturday.
Afterwards, let's regroup around 11 am for some well-deserved snacks, refreshments, and lunch provided for all volunteers as a token of our gratitude. Don't forget to bring your reef-safe sunscreen and reusable water container to stay refreshed and eco-friendly throughout the cleanup. We'll provide cleanup materials for the coastal team.
Let's #hoomalukekai together and keep our oceans clean and sustainable for future generations! See you there!
