Free Community Screening: Chasing Coral 🪸🌊
Hoʻomalu Ke Kai is excited to host a free community screening of Chasing Coral on Friday, October 16th at 7:00pm at the Kauaʻi Community College Performing Arts Center.
Nearly a decade after Chasing Coral brought the global coral bleaching crisis to audiences around the world, we’re bringing the film to Kauaʻi for an evening focused not only on the challenges facing coral reefs, but also on how far coral science, monitoring, restoration, and community involvement have come here in Hawaiʻi.
Before the film, we’ll welcome four of Hawaiʻi’s leading coral researchers and restoration practitioners for a special panel discussion connecting the story told in Chasing Coral to what is happening on our reefs today. Panelists will share perspectives from active coral research, restoration, bleaching response, and reef conservation efforts happening across the islands.
