About the event
This particular spot has been a focus area for us the last few years. It’s out of sight and out of mind and experiences some of the MOST marine debris than anywhere else on Kaua‘i. The funneling spots for marine trash and debris (like this one) are excellent places to target for cleanups since the close proximity/density is easier to capture all at once than in the ares where trash is scattered in a ‘few and far between’ fashion. We often talk about how exactly marine debris reaches our shores and where it comes from based on the spot we’re at during our cleanups and have also discussed such in past posts. The main takeaway is that marine debris (particularly, the long lasting stuff like plastic) will perpetually arrive on our Windward shorelines until the day the world stops using plastic.
