About the event
Join Us for Our Monthly Nōmilu Community Workday
Every month, our community comes together at Nōmilu Loko Iʻa to care for one of Kauaʻi's historic fishponds through hands-on restoration, stewardship, and mālama ʻāina. Each workday builds upon the last, and together we're helping restore not only the landscape itself, but the relationships between people, place, and the abundance that loko iʻa have sustained for generations.
This month's workday will focus on several ongoing restoration efforts throughout the fishpond, including:
Removing the remaining patches of invasive pickleweed from the back portion of the fishpond.
Replanting native ʻakulikuli along the shoreline trail to help stabilize and restore the area with indigenous coastal vegetation.
Maintaining previously restored sections to ensure the progress made over the past months continues to thrive.
