About the event
Nomilu Community Workday – Saturday, March 14
Aloha kākou,
Please join us for our next Nomilu Community Workday on Saturday, March 14 from 8:00am – 12:00pm at Nōmilu Fishpond.
This month’s workday is a special one. Over the past three years of monthly community workdays, volunteers have been steadily clearing invasive pickleweed from the perimeter of the fishpond. Together we have worked around 3,560 feet of shoreline, and we are now down to the final 300 feet.
Our goal for this workday is to finish that last stretch and complete this major milestone for the restoration of Nōmilu.
Clearing the pickleweed helps reopen the pond edges, improves water movement, and restores the natural function and visibility of the fishpond walls and surrounding habitat.
