About the event
Our Ocean Plastic Upcycling Workdays bring the community together to address one of Kauaʻi’s most persistent environmental challenges, marine debris washing ashore our coastlines.
Using Precious Plastic-style machinery, including our newly restored sheet press, we process recovered ghost nets and ocean plastics into durable materials that can be repurposed into long-term community assets.
This work is made possible through strong partnerships and shared innovation. We are grateful for the support of Matoha Instrumentation, whose plastic identification scanner technology allows us to accurately sort and better understand the materials we recover.
We also extend a special mahalo to Citizen Scientific Workshop and David Ultis for their engineering, open-source approach, and hands-on support in helping us bring our upcycling systems online safely and efficiently.
Continued support from the County of Kauaʻi Solid Waste and Recycling through their Recycling Grant Program has made it possible for us to sustain and expand this work…
