About the event
Ocean Plastic Upcycling & Wreath Making Workshop – Kaumakani Plastic Upcycling Facility
Join Kauaʻi Ocean Awareness and Hoʻomalu Ke Kai for a special community day at our Kaumakani Plastic Upcycling Facility — where we’re turning marine debris into creative, useful, and beautiful pieces for the holidays.
Our teams have been working hard to divert ghost nets and ocean plastics from the landfill, and this workshop gives volunteers the chance to be part of the full circular process: from sorting and scanning to shredding, repurposing, and creating. Whether you’re interested in learning how plastic becomes new material or you want to get crafty with Capt. Tara and design your own ghost-net wreath, there’s something for everyone.
This event is free, fun, and open to all ages, with tasks suitable for keiki through kūpuna. All tools, supplies, and PPE will be provided.
